About IFFR Australia

WHO WE ARE

The International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians (“IFFR”) are a group of Rotarians dedicated to promoting Rotary and aviation as an opportunity for fellowship and service. Put simply, IFFR members are part of Rotary International who have a common interest in aviation. IFFR operates in accordance with Rotary International policy, but is not an agency of, nor controlled by Rotary International.

Hundreds of events have been held over the years in many of the sixty countries of the world in which Flying Rotarians reside. Members are not necessarily pilots although in the past many Members have owned or currently own and fly general aviation aircraft, or enjoy an active interest in aviation and flying activities in Australia. Any Rotarian, or prospective Rotarian, with an interest in aviation is welcome to join the fellowship.

IFFR membership ranges from those aspiring aviators who simply must look up when an aircraft passes overhead, to Air Traffic Controllers, Engineers, Aircrew, and of course genera; aviation Pilots. Some are active, some retired, some wishing to retire, others wishing to be more active by participating in aviation related activities with like-minded people.

Membership of IFFR is an ideal way to experience aviation, provide service in the wider community and enjoy fellowship all rolled up in one. Membership provides an opportunity to enjoy Fly-Ins twice a year to various locations all around Australia and participate in International IFFR events organised by Sections virtually all around the world.

The Fly-Ins are organised to interesting Australian destinations with lots to see and do where Members can attend by using their own aircraft, hiring one, taking a commercial flight or driving with friends.

For those with access to an aircraft, the option exists of flying to the event via what is known as the Long Way Round which is a great way to extend the aviation experience with fellow pilots, family and friends. (See further details on this on our Fly-In page)
